A message from Pastor Ray

In preparation for a possible state-wide teacher walk out beginning April 2, we are making plans to feed Rogers County school children who may depend upon school meals. (52% of Rogers County students qualify for free and reduced lunch.)

The Claremore Ministerial Alliance is coordinating this project and First United Methodist Church is playing a major role. Our church kitchen will be used to prepare approximately 2,500 lunch meals each weekday of the walk out. Mercy Chefs, a wonderful Christian food service, will be preparing the meals, along with our own Chef Tim and our volunteers. The meals will be picked up from here to go to various community churches which will serve as distribution centers. It is our goal to cover all Claremore neighborhoods so that children can walk to receive their meal if need be. We have identified a church in each of our outlying Rogers County communities to distribute as well. First United Methodist Church will distribute meals in addition to preparing them. We will need some volunteers ready hand out meals on site, and deliver meals where the child is unable to get to a local church.

We hope to keep the cost per meal to a minimum, but there will be an expense to do this important ministry. Your future financial support may be needed!

Let’s all continue to pray for our schools, our teachers, our legislators, and our children!

Striving to be Faithful,
Ray Crawford
