One of the very special seasons of the Christian year — the season of Advent. The word “Advent” is taken from a Latin word meaning “to come.” It is during this time of the year that we prepare for the celebration of Christ’s coming to Earth long ago. We also prepare our lives for that day when he will come again!
Our worship traditions during Advent are beautiful and meaningful. Each Sunday a family or group of friends will be lighting a candle on the Advent wreath, focusing on one of the values of Advent — Hope, Peace, Love, and Joy. In addition, we have decorated our sanctuary for the season. This year, we are starting a new tradition as we introduce Royal Blue as the new Advent liturgical color.
Make Advent something important this year. Worship regularly. Pray each day. Share faith with your family. Get ready, God is doing something good!
Striving to be Faithful,
Dr. Ray Crawford
