The entire Claremore community will be looking for treasures at our semi-annual First United Methodist Church gigantic garage sale. The Family Life Center will be transformed into a bargain hunters paradise filled with everything you can imagine. And this year, there is even more opportunity to shop as we extend the sale to 2 days!
The sale starts on Friday, March 24th at 8:00 a.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, the sale begins at 8:00 a.m. and runs until 2:00 p.m. All proceeds go to the Children’s Center.
Without volunteers, the garage sale cannot take place. Volunteers are needed to on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. to help organize and price items. Help for a little while, or stay and help all day. If you have a truck or trailer, you are especially needed to help pick up large donations and bring them to the church. A sign up sheet will be available in Disciple Hall, but you do not need to sign up to help. Volunteers are always welcome and greatly appreciated! Just show up and we will put you to work.
We also need volunteers during the sale. At 2:00 on Saturday, we especially need help to haul off unsold merchandise and to put the church back in order for Sunday services.
Donations will be accepted Thursday, March 23, between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. only. If you have large donations that you need picked up, please call the church at 918-341-4580 no later than Wednesday, March 17, to make arrangements for pick up on March 23. Again, March 23 is the only day to drop off donations or to have donations picked up.
We are not able to accept large televisions, organs, or broken items. Thank you for keeping quality items in our garage sale.
Since the spring garage sale proceeds are going to the Children’s Center, the Mission Committee, which plans the sale, is challenging the congregation to donate a percentage of the total sales to the Children’s Center. Last year our garages sales earned about $12,000 each. If you would like to accept the challenge the total sales will be announced Sunday, March 26. You will have an opportunity to donate a percentage of that number or a set amount. Just indicate “GARAGE SALE” on your check or electronic giving.
Remember, you can give electronically by clicking on “Give Online” on the upper right side of this webpage.
Garage Sale Challenge Bonus –
Rising Starr Farms has donated delicious, grass-fed, Angus beef. A one-pound bag of ground beef will be given for every one percent donation of garage sale sales. You may keep the beef or give it to the food pantry. The total amount of the garage sale proceeds will be announced on Sunday, March 26. You will be able to figure your donation based on that number. Last year the garage sales made approximately $12,000 each.
If you have any questions, you may call the church office at 918-341-4580.
