Fun was had by volunteers and shoppers alike!

Thanks to all of your dedication to this missions project this year we raised more than $11,000!  The money will be used in local and international missions.  Once again you have answered the call to care for our Lord’s children around the world.

Georgia Tully will discuss “Sew Dresses for Africa”.  She will provide simple, easy patterns as well as instructions and examples.  UMW membership is not required.  Love offerings will be accepted for lunch.

Also, the children were given ark banks in their Sunday school classes; banks are also available in the disciple hall.  Help the kids fill their banks so we can fill an ark with animals.  Families will receive live animals to provide a continual source of food and income.  The offspring will be passed on to others in their communities.   These gifts of livestock will bless many lives.

So donate to the kids’ ark banks then bring your treasures to sell in the garage sale.  Don’t forget to come to the garage sale Saturday morning to buy someone else’s wonderful treasures.  It is all for a good cause.

We will be celebrating Easter in all three of our service, 8:30, 9:45, and 11:00.  The sancutuary will be filled with beautiful Easter flowers in celebration of our risen Lord.  Dr. Ray Crawford will deliver the message. Special music will be provided by our Chancel Choir and Orchestra at 8:30 and 11:00 and by Glorifi at 9:45.  Communion will be served at all three services.  The victory cross will be over flowing with cut flowers provided by the congregation (don’t forget!). 

The Children’s Easter Service will take place in the Children’s Center at 9:45 and 11:00.  At each service they will be treated to an Easter Egg hunt, puppet show and maybe even a visit by a furry friend with big ears!

Experience Holy Week! 

Palm Sunday – April 1st -

8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 Services.  Pastor Janelle Brammer will deliver the message with a special Palm Sunday greeting from Jerusalem by Rev. Ray Crawford via the internet.  The 9:45 and 11:00 services will open with a procession of children waving palm branches in celebration of Jesus’ triumphant return to Jerusalem.  Music will be provided by the Chancel Choir and Orchestra during the 8:30 and 11:00 services and by Glorifi during the 9:45.

Wednesday Lenten Service – April 4th -

12:00 Noon.  The community-wide  Ministerial Alliance Lenten Service will be held in the sactuary with lunch in the Family Life Center immediately following the service.  Lunch will cost $3.  Join with others in the community as we worship together on this last Wednesday before Easter.

Maundy Thursday – April 5th -

6:00.  The Bridge Service will observe Maundy Thursday with a special Love Feast in the Family Life Center.  Pastor Susan Rice will lead worship in a very casual atmosphere.  Following the service the congregation will meet in the sactuary for the Lord’s Supper drama featuring actors from our congregation.  The drama portrays the final events of Jesus’ life and commands his followers to: love unconditionally and remember his sacrifice for all mankind.  Communion will be served.

Good Friday – April 6th -

7:00.  Our youth will be leading us in a holy time of rememberance in the sactuary.  Christians observe Good Friday as the day that Jesus Christ was crucified and suffered on the cross before he uttered his final words, “It is Finished.” All are invited to come and remember God’s gift of sacrificial love and grace.

Holy Saturday – April 7th -

6:00 in the Family Life Center.  All are invited to the Ground Floor Service  for the Easter Vigil in preparation of Easter Sunday.  The service will focus on giving thanks for the “Good News” of our Savior’s victory over death.  Dr. Ray Crawford will deliver the message; communion will be served. The Saving Motion Band will provide music for the service.

Easter Sunday – April 8th -

8:30, 9:45, 11:00 in the Sanctuary.  Worship with your family and bring a friend as we worship the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  See additional information about Easter Sunday here.

One weekend out of every summer we provide a weekend retreat for single parents. If you know, or have been a single parent, then you know what a challenging life they lead. We just want to help. While angels watch the kids, the parent gets a chance to learn a little about their faith walk and share with other single parents. If you agree to join us, your fee to camp will be paid for at beautiful Camp Egan.  I can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend.

I was an angel last year, and loved it so much I bought the company (not really but somebody put me in charge so I will tell the story the way I want to).  The truth is, it is an experience I will always cherish and I hope to be involved for a long time, so come and help out. We need your donations!

The Stephen Ministers will be hosting a silent auction to raise funds for projects and materials.  If you have any collectables, white elephant or gently used items to donate, they may be left in the church office by March 10.  The auction will begin March 11 and run through 1 pm on Sunday, March 25.  Thank you for supporting this wonderful care and support ministry.

Tone up physically and spiritually!

Beginning March 7th women at FUMC are invited to come together on Wednesday mornings studing The 10 Habits of Happy Mothers by Dr. Meg Meeker, M.D.  The book is about reclaiming your passion, purpose and sanity!  The study will last about 10-12 weeks.  There will be a strength and stretching class (no fee) immediately following at 10:40.  This is an awesome opportunity to meet new friends and get fit in a warm and caring environment.  For information, contact Felicia Lanquist.  Child care is available upon request: email srice@claremorefumc.org
