Carol Round Book Signing after Ash Wednesday Service

Carol Round’s new book, Jouranling with Jesus: How to Draw Closer to God, has just been released. Carol will be signing copies of her book after the Ash Wednesday service in Disciple Hall. The service will take place at 6:00 pm, February 22 in the Sanctuary.

Carol has compiled her experiences with prayer journaling in her wonderful new book, Journaling with Jesus.

Carol is a self-syndicated columnist, Christian author and inspairational speaker. She is also a member of FUMC Claremore. Carol has also writen, A Mater of Faith and Faith Matters. Both of these books are available in paperback or eBook format. Her blog, A Matter of Faith, is at www.carolaround.com.

Levite Choir from Seoul Korea, Sun., Feb. 19

For many years, FUMC Claremore has been blessed with the uplifting music of the Levite Choir. They will be at FUMC again on February 19. You won’t want to miss their worship performance.

We are also in need of host families for 30 adults and 7 children. If you would like to host a family this year, you may sign up in disciple hall on Sunday morning. This is a wonderful opportunity to share Christ’s love with a group who share God’s message and their gift of music with us.

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer is a group of mothers that meets every Tuesday from 9-10 in room 104.

Moms in Prayer is a group of grandmothers that meets every Thursday from 11-12 in the Prayer Chapel.

We are women who pray together on a regular basis for children and schools.

We pray for our children, teachers, staff and schools.

We pray that our schools will be directed by biblical values and high moral standards.

We provide hope and strength to moms who carry heavy burdens for their children.

Moms in Prayer equips moms in 130+ countries to cry out to God to transform children and schools.

Kingdom People

Kingdom People will begin in February. This is not a bible study, but a small-group study experience based on biblical principles. Participation in 12, 2.5 hr weekly sessions is mandatory. Group members will want to allow 2.5 hrs of preparation each week prior to the group time. Because of the 12-week mandatory participation, the class will often run longer than 12 weeks. Special Valentine Services on Feb. 12

The Family Life Center will be transformed into a beautiful, romantic escape for you and your Valentine. Doors will open at 5:30; dinner will be served at 6:00. After a delicious meal complete with desert and beautiful music, you will be entertained by the hilarious nearly-newly-wed game. You may bid on the many, many silent auction offerings, then keep your Valentine happy all year by bidding on various services offered by the youth in the “Hands and Feet Auction”.

Silent Auction items will include: baskets for OU, OSU and TU, gift certificates for hair, legal services and more – much, much more.

The youth “Hands and Feet” auction will include services like: yard work, interior auto detailing, baby sitting, pet setting, a meal a month for 6 months, a desert a month for 6 months, and piano lessons.

All proceeds will benefit youth activity funds allowing FUMC youth so they may attend camps, retreats and other faith developing activities.

Christmas Angels ready for adoption

Prison Fellowship Christmas Angels are ready for adoption! The FUMC commitment to the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree program continues with a new partner! Big Brothers & Big Sisters has teamed up with the Angel Tree program to assist in supporting our Angels!

BBBS has “Big Sisters” waiting to help & is always looking for additional adults interested in
mentoring & supporting children In need. Watch for the Angels to be distributed soon!We will each be
purchasing only ONE gift per child this year ($15 to $25 value).

The Caretakers will tell us the need for
each child.Gifts should be wrapped with the Angel on the gift and returned by Monday, Dec 12.We will
have a Christmas party for our Angels on Sat, Dec 17th. If you would be willing to donate funds, time, or
goodies, your kindness would be very appreciated!

Our Peace

In a time of trouble, we long for peace within our families. In times of conflict, we hope for world peace. When we feel pressure as if we’ve been caught in a vice, we pray for peace within our own hearts and minds. Human beings yearn for peace. Where is peace to be found?

Our spiritual ancestors longed for peace as well. They had forgotten God. They had forgotten who they were. A deep unrest threatened to cover their nation and rob them of their joy. God sent prophets with a word of hope. The prophets of the Old Testament reminded their people again and again that peace was to be found in turning to God. They proclaimed the Lord to be the Source of peace. They even foretold the coming of one who was the “Prince of Peace.”

During this time of Advent we prepare to celebrate once again the coming of the Prince of Peace, the One who can truly bring peace to a troubled soul and to a troubled people. In these days we also look forward to the time that He will come again to bring God’s final reign of peace at last.
